Lai Reineth Mokoena

Lai Reineth Mokoena is a filmmaker, writer, and co-host of the Is This About Filmmaking? podcast dedicated to exploring African filmmaking and narratives. Blending her studies in literature, psychology and film, she explores the human condition, time and grief in her work.

Her credits include festival selected short films Chasing Sunsets, Oleander (featured in Los Angeles’ “Sistas Are Doin’ It For Themselves” showcase), and the poetry film I Put Out A Fire (Joburg Film Festival Young Voices runner-up). In addition to independent storytelling, she currently works as a production coordinator within the VFX and animation space.
