In a career spanning over 10 years, he has practiced and honed his legal skills at leading full-service, African, law-firm Webber Wentzel, where he was involved in advising and representing well-established local and international organisations from across industries in a variety of corporate and commercial transactions, and disputes. He has represented and acted as a trusted advisor to various entities and intellectual property rights holders within the cultural and creative industries, providing a range of practical legal and business solutions and services to enabled them to understand, secure, manage, exploit, and defend their intellectual property rights. Mkuseli lead Liberty Group’s contracts management team charged with managing the third-party supplier contracting process and life cycle and played a key role in various high-value strategic sourcing activities across procurement categories, and including the broader Standard Bank Group. Mkuseli holds an LLB degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as a post-graduate diploma in business administration (PGDip) from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), where he is also an MBA candidate. He has contributed to articles published by Thompson Reuters (2017) and Without Prejudice (2014) on the International Arbitration Act of 2017 and the Employment Equity Amendment Act of 2013, respectively, and contributed to comments on certain chapters of the draft King IV Report on Corporate Governance to the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IDSA). With a distinct blend of experience, qualification, skills, and expertise, Mkuseli has set the focus of his work on the realisation of the great potential value inherent in intellectual property and the broader economy of ideas, and the extent of Africa’s participation therein.
